West Texas Chimney & Venting Solutions, formerly J & J Chimney Sweep & Repairs, was founded in Amarillo, TX more than 40 years ago. Although our name has changed, our passion for caring for the chimneys and hearths of those throughout West Texas by pairing 21st century technology with great old-fashioned service has not changed. We’re still committed to sweeping West Texas off its feet by providing our neighbors with comprehensive chimney and fireplace care, and helping resolve efficiency, smoke, and water problems throughout all our service area.

Education & Training Are Important To Us
We truly strive to provide expert services, which means we need to be experts ourselves. That’s why our team undergoes extensive training and maintains certification with the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). We also maintain membership with the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) and stay up to date on all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, as well as all state and local codes. We’re committed to continuously improving, so we never stop learning.
About the Owner
Our passion for education starts with company owner, Jim Ray, who graduated with his Master’s Degree and was a teacher and coach for several years before going into the insurance business. Upon deciding he had had enough of being cooped up in an office, Jim jumped at the opportunity to get into the chimney sweep business. He bought the business from a friend, and decided he really loved being on rooftops and singing “Chim Chim Cher-ee” to entertain the neighborhood kids.
Jim learned all he could about the business and quickly became a CSIA-certified chimney sweep and dryer vent technician. He now attends conferences across the country to stay abreast of all the newest industry technology and codes. In what spare time he has, Jim enjoys all outdoor activities.
Jim and his wife Kathy (who recently retired from nursing to serve as Vice President of West Texas Chimney & Venting Solutions) have two married children. Jeremy and Christen live in Englewood, CO and Lindsey and Luke live in Dallas, TX. They also have a precious granddaughter, Katy Jane.
